Dr Chuah Sai Yee graduated from the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom (UK) and undertook postgraduate medical training in Scotland during which she obtained her membership to the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP(UK)). Her passion in dermatology was ignited by her mentors in leading dermatology specialist training centres in Scotland, UK namely the Glasgow Royal Infirmary; Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock and Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. During her training in the UK, she attained the Diploma in Dermatology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the Specialty Certificate in Dermatology from the Royal College of Physicians.
She went on to obtain the Advanced Specialist Training in Dermatology at the National Skin Centre (NSC), Singapore and was awarded the Certificate of Specialist Accreditation in Dermatology by the Ministry of Health (MOH). Dr Chuah was a recipient of the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) award to further her training in dermatology at Hôpital l’Archet, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nice, France and Hôpital Saint-Louis, Paris, France where she was trained under the internationally renowned expert in pigment, hair and nail disorders and the use of non-invasive skin imaging for skin cancer screening. Her European training and exposure had garnered experience in treating Asian and Caucasian skin conditions in both adults and children. She is currently a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore with membership in the Dermatological Society of Singapore; Chapter of Dermatologists, College of Physicians Singapore and British Association of Dermatologists.
Prior to her own practice – “CSY Dermatology’, Dr Chuah has spent 13 years at the National Skin Centre, Singapore as Senior Consultant and Head of the Pigment Disorders Clinic, where she managed complex cases with referral for second opinion from within, other institutions – both local and abroad. Since 2015, Dr Chuah started the first non-invasive skin imaging clinic for skin cancer screening using the Reflectance Confocal Microscopy (RCM) – the first and only such clinic in South-East Asia. Using the RCM, it provides a quick and non-invasive diagnostic imaging alternative to skin biopsy for patients which allows early and “benign-looking” skin lesions and skin cancers be accurately diagnosed on the same day for timely management.
